Hello –
This substack has been silent but the hidden abode of production frenetic.
We have made a 96-page magazine, a poster, and a card game, all of which will be launched this Friday, 28th July 2023, at TRAUMABARUNDKINO in Berlin, details below. New Models are hosting us.
You can play through the card game the day before, this Thursday 27th July, at Trust in Berlin, details below.
The magazine is called Crude Futures and is a thing of beauty.
Noticing, wiping with a finger, and placing to its tongue a lick of the fine dust of existential worry that has settled over the last three years across every common object, every situation, every idea for the future, the Crude Futures magazine notes the taste: at once bitter and tangy, with a complex depth worth pausing on. Within days the magazine is treating the dust like food, like common fuel: it finds itself with paranoiac force scrawling hyperglossic diagrams of the global polycrisis, engrossed in a card game that aims to reshuffle anxieties into collective narrative, theorizing pathological institutional forms so as to explain apocalypse, musing on sacrifice and guilt, busying itself with wikipedian mania with shipping routes and their dissolution, penning impossible vignettes, scrawling about deadly wasps, collecting polaroids of desolate Norwegian landscapes. All this it marshals into itself to form a crude future, or one of many.
The poster is called Mapping Polycrisis and is a thing of (secret) beauty.
The card game is called How It Happens and is a thing of beauty.
How It Happens is a world building card game for up to four players. Players tell the story of how their world collapses, and then roleplay the ways in which they navigate a world in collapse.
If you want to play through the card game, join the Collapsology group on Thursday 27th July 2023, 7:30PM CET
